Chris-Craft Introduces Third Member of Center Console Range

SARASOTA, Fla. (August 14, 2007) – Chris-Craft has made an impressive arrival in the fishing boat market with its Catalina range of center consoles. The first two to be introduced were the practical but elegant Catalina 23 and Catalina 29. Now, Chris-Craft prepares to unveil the next member of the family, the Catalina 26.

The Catalina 26 boasts an array of features that were created with the serious fisherman in mind. This Catalina, with an overall length of 26 feet 6 inches and beam of 8 feet 6 inches, allows for comfort and ease during either a relaxing day of fishing with the family or an exhausting tournament.

The Catalina 26's innovative design features the same sleek deep-V hull and flared bow as is found on Chris-Craft's popular runabouts and bowriders. The wood free construction of the Catalina's hull allows the boat to move effortlessly through the water at various speeds.

One of the most popular features on the Catalina 26 is its abundance of storage options. The cockpit features both port and starboard storage for fishing rods with stainless steel fittings and PVC gunwale tubing for rod ends. Two macerated fish boxes can also be found on both port and starboard. Other storage areas are found beneath the bow seats and in the floor.

The cockpit of the Catalina 26 is self-bailing and contains stainless steel fittings throughout. Both a fresh water wash down with 20-gallon tank and a raw water wash down with coiled hose and nozzle help keep the boat tidy when reeling in a big catch. Teak accents are found throughout the cockpit, including transom platform inserts, a console footrest lid, side console plaques and a recessed foredeck area. Five custom stainless steel Chris-Craft rod holders are also featured in the cockpit. In addition, one of the most unique features in the Catalina 26 is a concealed head located inside the forward console.

The captain of this unique fish boat will immediately notice all of the practical features found at the helm. A 28-gallon live well with LED light provides plenty of space to contain enough bait to last through a long day with lines in the water. A white powder coated console leaning post includes a 36-quart cooler which can be upgraded to a 72-quart cooler. Chris-Craft stayed true to its name with the custom stainless steel hydraulic steering wheel and powder coated perforated plate dash.

The Catalina 26 is currently in production and will be making its grand debut alongside its fellow Catalina sisters at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat show in October. Chris-Craft plans to expand the series of Catalinas ranging from 23 to 36 feet with a variety of walkaround and express designs over the next three years.

Headquartered in Sarasota, Fla., with a second factory in King's Mountain, N.C., Chris-Craft has a fleet of 14 models ranging from 20 to 40 feet. Chris-Craft's New Catalina Line Is Sure to Be a Great Catch

SARASOTA, Fla (October 23, 2006) - Chris-Craft is famous to those in the marine industry for designing such state-of-the-art boats as the luxurious closed deck Corsair line, the sporty Speedster and the classic 40-foot Roamer motor yacht. When a consumer thinks of a Chris-Craft, they envision the company's trademark teak wood, stainless steel fittings and attention to every single detail that makes a Chris-Craft the most handsome boat on the water. While keeping all of this in mind, Chris-Craft is about to create waves in the marine industry with the development of a new line of boats that targets a new segment of the market, and that is fishing.

Chris-Craft is preparing to unveil its brand new center console fishing boat line aptly named the Catalina. The first boat to make its grand entrance into the Catalina family is the new Catalina 23.

The Catalina 23 represents Chris-Craft's most recent entry into the center console market with a "high style" fish boat designed not only for serious fisherman but also as a water sports boat for the family. It bears all of the beautiful and traditional design features of Chris-Craft's other models.

This Catalina has an overall length of 23 feet 6 inches and a beam of more than eight feet and can comfortably accommodate eight people. Boasting two of Chris-Craft's most recognizable features, the deep-V hull and flared bow, passengers can be assured of a smooth, dry ride while aboard. The hull is 100 percent wood free and contains an integrated fiberglass structural liner.

On the deck of the Catalina 23, you will find custom fiberglass rod boxes on both the port and starboard sides in addition to fish boxes in the floor. The rod boxes are designed to hold fishing rods of up to seven feet in length. Classic Chris-Craft teak can be found on the swim platform, the fuel tank hatch and the forward anchor area. As with all Chris-Craft models, stainless steel thru-hull fittings are found throughout the boat.

The Catalina 23's cockpit contains a variety of unique features. This self-bailing cockpit contains a custom folding two-person transom seat, as well as a two person bench in front of the center console that flips up to reveal a convenient head area. The U-shaped forward seating area is made of easy-dry foam and vinyl cushions that will not hold water to make for a more comfortable day on the water. Storage space can be found throughout the Catalina 23 including a dry storage compartment in the bow and compartments underneath the bow seating area. Passengers will find six cup holders throughout the boat, as well as eight rod holders.

The helm of the Catalina 23 is also loaded with new features and is ergonomically designed to give the driver a heightened sense of control. A stainless steel hydraulic tilt steering wheel commands the perforated metal plate dashboard and optional flip-up helm seat. The powder-coated aluminum on the dash prevents corrosion enabling the helm to maintain its original beauty. The freestanding windshield is made of green Solex glass that is specially designed for Chris-Craft. Sealed Carling rocker switches can be found at the helm with resettable breakers located under the console. An optional Raymarine electronics package includes a traducer for fish finding and depth details. Below the dash is a handy lockable glove box containing an AM/FM/CD stereo system with an auxiliary jack and 12 volt outlet. Directly behind the helm seat is a 20-gallon live well that contains a raw water system, an LED light and a customizable live well timer. A custom powder coated aluminum leaning post is found at the live well along with a 36-quart cooler underneath the helm seat. In addition, four custom Chris-Craft rod holders can be found at the helm.

Perhaps one of the most practical options available on the Catalina 23 is that of a T-Top, constructed of white powder coated aluminum and canvas. The T-Top option contains fluorescent lighting, spreader lights, storage and four fishing rod holders. The Catalina 23 also comes in a Heritage Edition that includes teak coaming rails.

The standard engine on the Catalina 23 is the Yamaha F250 TXR with 250 horsepower. This V-6 engine has digital gauges and electronic fuel injection.

For all its practical features, the Catalina 23 is still an incredibly stylish and attractive center console. It makes for an excellent new addition to the Chris-Craft fleet.

The Catalina 23 will make its official debut at the Miami International Boat Show in February 2007 with a 26-foot and 29-foot Catalina in the works.

New Corsair 33 to be Complete and on Display at Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show

SARASOTA, Fla. (June 28, 2005) - As a follow-up to the successful launch of the Corsair 36 at last year's Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show, Chris-Craft is introducing the new Corsair 33. It will have many of the features found in the Corsair 36, but will be slightly more compact.

"This is a perfect boat to round out the Corsair family," says Bob Greenberg, Vice President of Operations and Manufacturing. "It is a nice step up from the cuddy cabin in our Corsair 28 and a great option for overnight trips."

The Corsair 33 is built on a proven Chris-Craft deep-V hull with the classic flared bow, 20o deadrise and tumblehome aft. The boat comes standard with twin 280 hp Volvo 5.7Gi stern drives and stainless steel Duoprops. The power plant can be upgraded to twin 375 hp Volvo or MerCruiser gasoline engines or turbocharged D-6 Volvo diesels. The base power delivers a hearty top speed in the mid-40s and cruises comfortably at 35 mph. The fuel capacity is 207 gallons.

A standard extended swim platform allows for easy boarding. The cockpit features double-wide helm seats, as well as a large wrap-around U-shape aft seat, and a center walk-through, allowing easy access to the swim platform. The driver's helm seat has a flip-up bolster. The cockpit provides total seating for eight guests. The seating also conceals plenty of convenient storage for fenders, lines, battery switches, and dock side water and power inlets. An optional teak table allows for dining and a sunpad kit converts the aft seating to a large sun bed.

An on-deck entertainment center with wet bar and optional refrigerator or icemaker provides convenient beverage and snack service. Guests can take refuge from the sun under the boat's generous Bimini top, which stores below deck by dropping into a molded compartment under the hydraulic engine hatch.

The ergonomic helm features Chris-Craft's metal perforated-plate dashboard with custom gauges and room for optional electronics. Central access to the bow is available with a teak and stainless steel ladder and diamond non-skid walkway. Chris-Craft's signature handrails and teak insert grace the forward deck, perfect for sunning.

Below, guests will find comfortable accommodations for four people. This model includes a fully-equipped forward berth that doubles as a dining area, a spacious galley, enclosed head and a separate aft berth with privacy curtain.

The user-friendly galley, located on the port side of the boat, offers a stainless steel refrigerator, stainless steel microwave, stainless steel sink and lots of galley storage. The cook top also includes a switch that automatically cuts off the power to the heating element when the cover is in place. The entire galley counter is a solid surface material with a stainless steel galley rail for safety. Storage beneath the galley also includes a dedicated pull-out trash receptacle. Above the galley is the centralized main distribution panel with custom color-coded electric breakers - green for 12V systems and red for 120V systems - for easy identification. The panel has individual controls for all features so that the operator can isolate any system.

The main salon boasts seating in the V-berth for four adults. The custom Italian Bensenzoni table base in the V-berth lowers hydraulically to provide a base for bed cushions. The main salon also has state-of-the-art electronics with an optional 15" flat-screen TV and a CD/DVD player with built-in tuner.

The head, located on the starboard side of the boat, has a custom faucet and shower with a Tecma toilet. The stainless steel sink is surrounded by a custom sea-blue acrylic countertop with storage above and below. The space is completed with thoughtful touches, such as a stainless steel robe hook and space for toiletries.

The entire boat has more than 25 cubic feet of storage space, all with Euro-style door hardware and real cherry wood cabinetry.

The new Corsair 33 can be seen for the first time at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show October 27-31, 2005.

Chris-Craft Comes Full-Circle with the 2005 Speedster

SARASOTA, Fla. (July 2, 2004) - It all began with a quest for speed. More than a century ago, Chris Smith started a legacy by capturing record after record. Each design was a modification of the success before. And so the legacy continues. One hundred and thirty years after Chris built his first boat, Chris-Craft unveils the Speedster. Designed to capture the spirit of Chris himself, the Speedster is the fastest model in its class.

Sometimes first impressions are everything and nothing summarizes the Speedster's better than "WOW!" You fight the temptation to touch everything. Much like a classic roadster, the throttle is calling your name. You can already hear the rumble of the V-8, but then with the flip a switch on the selectable exhaust, the engine is practically silent. Even at high speeds, the loudest noise you hear is the sound of the wind rushing over the windshield. At 20'2", the new Chris-Craft Speedster is a unique combination of style, design and performance.

The Speedster is also packed with standard features on the boat:

  • Aluminum perforated dash with custom Chris-Craft gauges
  • Diamond non-skid on front deck and cockpit sole in a "teak deck" pattern
  • Exclusive Bimini top with storage under the aft seat
  • High-end fit and finish of Chris-Craft 316 stainless steel hardware
  • Integral swim platform with hidden ladder
  • 5-year "Chris-Care" Protection Plan (a new "bow to stern" 5-year warranty on all boats ordered after July 1, 2004)
  • Stainless steel, low-profile windshield
  • Chris-Craft custom-embroidered pennant and U.S. flag
  • Exclusive pop-up ski pylon in the center of the boat
  • Custom solid mahogany wood steering wheel with tilt feature
  • Custom side mount control handle

The standard engine, a Volvo 4.3 L Gxi MPI V-6 (225 HP), tops out at 54 mph, even with five people on board. The unique running pad on the V-hull increases stability and maneuverability while on plane. And, the new Speedster continues with Chris-Craft's tradition of beautiful lines and finishes that help customers recognize the design instantly.

"This boat is a well-thought out boat," says Steve Heese, president of Chris-Craft. "Our engineers spent hours upon hours sitting in every phase of the prototype mock-up to create the most useable space and functional design, while at the same time building a truly beautiful boat."

Surprisingly enough, the boat began less than a year ago as a sketch on a napkin in a Chinese restaurant. Bob Greenberg, vice president of operations, and a co-worker were working on a concept to respond to customer and dealer demand for a small runabout. Inspiration hit between the soup and the fried rice - and the rest is history, soon to be a Chris-Craft legend.

Chris-Craft is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year by sponsoring a series of antique boat shows. The new Speedster will make an appearance at some of those shows. For more information, visit www.chriscraft.com.
